Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Digital Product Owner supporting one of our most prestigious clients as they undergotransformation of their digital presence with a focus on patient and member experience. This Product Owner can be based anywhere in the United States, travel may be required when safe. Healthcare industry experience is a must have requirement.

Job Overview

Perficient, Inc. is seeking a Digital Product Owner motivated to take on challenges in a growing and dynamic environment. The candidate should have deep technical understanding and experience of driving and owning digital product development principles and processes.

The Digital Product Owner will serve as the 'voice of the customer throughout the end to end process of product development, ensuring that the products and experiences delivered fully meet consumer/ patient needs.

The Digital Product Owner is empowered to set the client s experience vision and roadmap for a given initiative, and tie it to key business objectives. The ideal candidate will therefore have strong business skills and experience, a strong understanding of healthcare provider needs and business strategy and either substantial past experience working with technology teams or the ability and interest to learn how to work with technology teams.

The core of the role is in maintaining and prioritizing product backlog to ensure that the client s Scrum teams are working on stories and technical work that maximize business value and deliver necessary fixes and functionality to all customers. In addition, the Digital Product Owner will solicit stakeholder input and feedback to inform work and their prioritization decisions. The Digital Product Owner will promote transparency throughout the organization involving all critical business areas from strategy to release management and maintenance.

Experience in with Agile methodologies is a requirement and the candidate must be detail oriented with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management. In particular, experience in creating effective, actionable user stories to drive product development is highly preferred. Experience with Hybrid project management environments and the management of offshore teams is also desirable.

Responsibilities

The Digital Product Owner needs to be comfortable operating as a self-starter from end to end of the product development process; taking on the product vision, working to further define and translate that vision into a series of deliverables, managing the product backlog and then coordinating and managing execution of the vision into initial MVPs and beyond.

The Digital Product Owner will:-
  • Develop experience strategy and set key business objectives, including the establishment of a clear vision and roadmap for a given product or initiative
  • Perform external discovery (e.g., identifying marketplace innovation, testing directly with end users) and internal discovery (e.g., collaborating with business partners to identify needs) with support from business partners, UX design and research
  • Incorporate competitive and user research/testing and/or design thinking as part of the voice of the customer
  • Provide an end to end /holistic view of how specific business/clinical processes and internal system configurations impact the experience
  • Evaluate, in collaboration with business partners, potential business/clinical process changes and internal system configurations to be able to implement the desired features
  • Be responsible for supporting the product vision, defining product requirements, translating requirements into user stories to prioritize product backlog
  • Create effective user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritized backlog to ensure work is in line with experience strategy and requirements are understood by Scrum team
  • Ensure that user stories clearly communicate customer and business needs to the Scrum team. Work with Scrum team to clarify stories as necessary
  • Work collaboratively with the Scrum team to accurately scope and estimate work across the team, mindful of individual skill-sets and capacity
  • Prioritize backlog, representing the voice of customer/stakeholder to Scrum teams, measuring and reading out experience outcomes
  • Have end-to-end experience ownership, including taking final decisions on product functionality
  • Establish and maintain best practices across product teams
  • Translate business needs and product backlog into sprint-sized pieces of work
  • Maintain a healthy, robust and manageable backlog, with well-defined acceptance criteria to ensure Scrum teams are working on stories and technical work that maximize business value (including new development, non-functional requirements and technical work (e.g., maintenance, support, technical debt))
  • Oversee, coordinate & support development work in order to realize the experience vision
  • Lead sprint demos highlight the business value of the work completed, any risks and kudos to the team.
  • In scaled agile, participate in Art Syncs to track progress towards the key business objectives, communicate dependencies, and risks.
  • Prepare product release documentation for features for business stakeholders audience.
  • Collect feedback from end users and input from business stakeholders
  • Define value management & metrics within client parameters e.g. speed, quality, objectives & key results, measurement and reporting
  • Communicate effectively and develop productive relationships across multiple client stakeholders, development teams, product management teams (including other product owners and their related work-streams) and Perficient team-mates
  • Be comfortable with Scrum Agile and Scaled Agile, both in deliverable management and in terms of comfort level with releasing MVP rapidly to get the greatest value to the consumer/ user as quickly as possible within appropriate parameters
  • Be comfortable with a very fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Be comfortable with and ideally have meaningful experience working with and task-sharing with an offshore team
  • Coordinate resolution of technical dependencies across squads
  • Effectively manage internal and external influencers and their inputs and impacts on prioritization
  • Be comfortable in influencing strong x-team compliance with product squad best practices and designated roles, including understanding and help to coordinate inter-squad and external dependencies, as applicable

Required Skills

Qualifications
  • Healthcare industry experience required.
  • 2-4 years experience in a product strategy role or requirements intake role
  • Scrum Agile Experience/ Advocacy: Experience with Agile development strongly preferred; Agile certification a plus
  • Must be comfortable with conveying the value of new and emerging products, technologies or applications to senior management and across a diverse product team
  • Engineering or technical education and experiential background is preferred
  • Product experience specifically is required, vs. Project experience in similar areas

Preferred Skills
  • Experience of product ownership for Custom App Development (Angular, React) is preferred
  • 1+ years experience managing a team of 5+ people preferred Healthcare provider experience preferred
  • Familiarity/comfort with Behavior Driven Development is an advantage
  • Familiarity/comfort with WSJF prioritization modeling is an advantage
  • Experience in implementing Specific Agile principles - SAFe Agile, Kanban, WIP limits
  • Specific Product Areas of Interest (Digital Web, Search, Scheduling, Digital Home)
  • Experience in QAT/ Testing
