Job Summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking new grad candidates for a Content Writer position within the Content Strategy and Development team within the Corporation Communications and Public Affairs Division. The Content Writer will focus on developing news stories and writing feature articles relating to Aerospace's technical innovations, inclusive workplace culture and thought leadership for internal and external audiences. Preference is for candidates located near Aerospace's Chantilly, Virginia office, but qualified applicants in other locations will also be considered.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Responsible for assisting in researching and writing feature articles for an external audience and company news content for internal communication channels
  • Collaborate with other teams within the division to package written content with videos, photos, graphics and web functionality
  • Support metrics tracking and data analytics processes to measure audience engagement for content and other communication products
  • Contribute to writing and editing copy on an ad hoc basis for press releases, video scripts, corporate announcements, employee emails, and similar communication channels

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months) from an accredited program in Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing or related discipline.
  • 0-1 years of experience in Communications, Media or related field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated mastery of grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Must be detail-oriented and work well in a team environment
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc.) and Web Analytics tools (Google Analytics, Tableau, etc.)
  • Additional skills and experience for producing other forms of content, including video, podcasts, social media, graphics, etc.
  • Customer service-oriented and effective interpersonal skills and experience
  • Strong collaborative skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
