Overview

LMI is seeking a high-energy Speech Writer/Strategic Communications Analyst with an acquisitions background to provide front office support to a DoD Sustainment organization.

Responsibilities
    Write prepared remarks, Town Hall addresses, emails, letters, ad-hoc video scripts, blog posts, magazine Q&As, and quotes for the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD(A&S)) that are tailored to the respective audience and fora, often under short timelines.
  • Engage with the USD(A&S) on a weekly basis to plan speech messaging, content, and structure, and to strategize on event output.
  • Liaise with multiple event sponsors at a time to organize speaking engagement remarks, logistics, scheduling, and format.
  • Closely coordinate with various stakeholders within the Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S) directorates and the broader Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) to gather data and synchronize talking points.
  • Collaborate with OSD Public Affairs, the Defense Media Activity, and the Army Multimedia and Visual Information Directorate to ensure consistent messaging and direct high-quality video production for both live and pre-recorded events.
  • Prepare and update talking points for the Under Secretary in coordination with the A&S directorates.
  • Co-develop a monthly newsletter for the internal A&S workforce, with a letter from the Secretary in each issue.
  • Perform other strategic communications tasks: review content and generate ideas for social media posts, develop infographics, coordinate photo ops, etc.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of specialized in acquisition, sustainment, or logistics and strategic communications.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to TS/SCI required.
  • Executive level support experience, experience within DoD and other federal agencies.
  • Experience in leading and providing technical guidance and direction involving multiple projects of high complexity.
  • Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.
  • Must have outstanding customer service abilities to initiative, judgement, creativity, flexibility, and confidence.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
  • Must have editorial experience with excellent knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, and punctuation
  • Demonstrated excellent copy-editing and proofreading skills
  • Travel as required.
