Job Description

Job Description:

Responsible for acting as a key resource for on site rock scanning, using Boart Longyear's state of the art XRF technology. Candidate will have a thorough understanding of all XRF scanning operations in order to troubleshoot and provide daily data flow to the Geological Data Services (GDS) team, clients and external stakeholders. Training will be provided for this role so no experience is necessary.

  • On site core scanning using Boart Longyear's state of the art XRF technology (TruScan)

  • Cleans, inspects and organizes all the core to be scanned at site

  • Communicates between GDS Geoscientists, client geologists and drill crews

  • Supports repairs and trouble shoots

  • Facilitates database upgrades

  • Coordinates shipping and receiving from site to storage locations, including generating and scheduling waybills, customs documents and courier pick-ups

  • Provide training and support to drilling contractors and mining company geologists/technicians on the use of TruScan

  • Active contributor during meetings and discussions with management, including monthly meetings with North American GDS team

  • Ensure data integrity

  • Social Media discipline

  • Display and maintain safe behaviors which exceed the standards of our clients

  • Regularly checking spectra and images from the project

  • Promptly identify and report operational and data quality issues with geologists

  • Actively seeking feedback on results and improvement suggestions from clients

  • Clear, professional and informative daily scan reports, detailing issues and conditions affecting tasks

  • Work with Admin/Geos to ensure flights and accommodation are arranged in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Building positive relationships with key operational and geological staff on-site

  • Actively seeking training and feedback from Geoscientists - Technical and work flow questions on site

  • Assist mobilization and demobilization commissioning, and integration/testing of new technologies and software (workshop)

  • Assist with sample preparation and maintenance (pucks)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Good organization

  • Technical background

  • Experience working with computers

  • Experience working at a mine site

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Extensive Travel required
