kW MCE, is currently initiating a search for a Senior Consultant, Fire and Life Safety Engineer in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin office.
Job Responsibilities:
You will work with a team of Fire and Life Safety Technical Professionals to meet the technical challenges faced by modern building designs. The Fire and Life Safety team is dedicated to keeping people safe from the dangers of fire and smoke within buildings. Blending science and practical experience, the team designs fire engineering strategies that are safe for occupants and bring commercial benefits. The practice has the experience and expertise to navigate codes, standards, and create solutions for our clients that balance building with compliance requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
As a Senior Consultant, Fire and Life Safety, you will be responsible for overseeing the fire and life safety aspects of a project.
Design:
  • Development of automatic fire sprinkler systems, fire detection, and alarm systems.
  • Design and review of mass notification systems, smoke management systems, and egress systems.
  • Prepare computer models for fire, smoke and egress simulations.
  • Review fire and safety drawings for compliance to ensure meeting safety code requirements.
Analytics:
  • Prepare information for proposal documents, specifications, and reporting.
  • Develop understanding of project finances
  • Create models, analyze technical issues, devise solutions.
  • Lead tasks for technical assignments on projects
Collaboration:
  • Conduct commissioning activities for code compliance
  • Participate in project and client meetings
  • Attend team and/or project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups, project teams and clients.
  • Design and review of visually compelling deliverables
  • Commitment to keeping up to date on technical knowledge of current and emerging practices
  • Business development and marketing pursuit activities
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required by business needs


Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor of Science Fire Design or equivalent (or other engineering discipline)
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
  • Self-starter, able to work independently as well as multi-task
  • Preferred Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor in Fire Protection or equivalent experience
Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands
Occasional travel (<30%) to client or project sites as needed
