Position at Carolina CAT - Construction

Summary

The primary function of this position is to service, diagnose, and repair emergency apparatus. Including but not limited to engine, drivetrain, suspension, fire pump, and other components of the vehicle. This position can work out of one the following branch locations; Charlotte, Asheville, Statesville, Greensboro, or Monroe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Perform all Mechanic/Technician basic duties for emergency vehicles
  • Mechanical abilities must include gas and diesel engines
  • Chassis capabilities must encompass all unit systems
  • Diagnose and repair all types fire pumps and components
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Must be knowledgeable of NFPA 1901 and NFPA 1911
  • Ability to order and obtain proper parts from parts department
  • Must be able to work after hours including emergency call out for break downs
  • Must be able to work independently on a field service truck
  • Order or obtain necessary parts from stock room
  • Will often work without supervisor on a company service truck
  • Meet standard jobs expectations for established tasks
  • Test the part or equipment and perform quality check after work is complete
  • Pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all required paperwork

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have earned a High School Diploma, or a GED
  • Work experience in Emergency Vehicle repairs and/or 3 years fire department experience with mechanical background
  • Must have ability to pass EVT and ASE test within 6 months of hire date
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Has the ability to think outside current circumstances, develop new and effective solutions and also recognizes unique opportunities
  • Able to generate ideas, and conceive multiple solutions
  • Excellent planning ability which ties to corporate vision
  • Maintains a current knowledge and appreciation of all Product Support functions
  • Uncompromising integrity, moral values, ethics, honest, truthful and straightforward
  • Strong coordinating, time management and organizational skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • MS Office
  • Must have a valid Class B CDL driver's license or be able to obtain license within 90 days

Western North Carolina (Charlotte, Asheville, Statesville, Monroe, or Greensboro)
