Our location in Lake County, Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Regional Manager, Clara Abbott Foundation.

The Clara Abbott Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization managed and funded separately from Abbott. The Foundation provides need-based financial assistance to help Abbott employees, retirees and their dependents through difficult financial situations. The Foundation was established through the will of Clara Abbott, the wife of Abbott's founder, and has been helping Abbott families around the world for nearly 80 years. WHAT YOU'LL DO

The primary function of the regional manager is to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Financial Assistance Program at The Clara Abbott Foundation, providing support to Abbott employees and retirees around the world experiencing financial need. This position reports directly to the Operations Director for The Clara Abbott Foundation and is a key member of the Operations leadership team. Detailed responsibilities include the following:

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage less than 10 independent consultants and coordinators, and recruit and staff additional resources as required. 
  • Manage approximately 2,500 client cases per year and provide guidance to consultants and other staff on workload management and processing.
  • Manage up to $3 million budget in annual distributions to clients and all costs associated with the territory assigned for the financial assistance program.
  • Present recommendations to management and external reviewers as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with IRS guidelines, mission of The Foundation, and adherence to policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Any international education or experience preferred.
  • Multi-lingual mandatory. Fluent in Mandarin or other Asian language preferred.
  • 4-6 years prior experience in business, operations or human resources.
  • Ability to multi-task on a regular basis.
  • Ability to remain compassionate, objective and non-judgmental regarding the case scenarios.
  • Excellent people skills are needed to manage staff, consultants and clients during difficult situations.
  • Have a client-focused mentality and be culturally and geographically sensitive.
