Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Nurse on Duty, the CNA performs direct resident care, assists with activities of daily living and provides a safe environment for the residents to live in. This position requires the incumbent to perform at a level which will enhance the long-standing organizational values, mission and philosophy of Chai Point.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Work alone giving total care or assist resident with the following: bed bath, tub bath or shower; dental, hair, nail, shaving, dressing, undressing, application of make-up, hearing aids and eye glasses.
Answer all requests promptly.
Encourage active participation of residents in meeting their needs by promoting individualized care and activity attendance.
Observes and reports pertinent information concerning changes in behavior or physical state of a resident to the LPN/RN.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident, department and organizational information.
Assure that all resident rights are maintained at all times.
Report any abuse or neglect to appropriate staff. Have knowledge of how to file a complaint.
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience Required: Prior long term care CNA experience helpful.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple projects. Specialized training or experience in geriatric care or gerontology is desirable.
