Responsibilities: Provide physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. Facilitate the patients’ learning of skills and functions that are essential for adaptation and productivity, to diminish or correct pathology under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Act as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures. Make appropriate referrals to other disciplines or organizations to address the comprehensive needs of the patient under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient. Provide individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training; functional training; and manual therapy. Implements patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the Physical Therapist., Submit billing to coding department within the confines outlined in SSCHC policies. Instructs patient in the skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluates patient progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
Qualifications:
Licensed to practice as Physical Therapy Assistant in State of Wisconsin
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association
Ability to communicate effectively and educate patients
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, and other private and public organizational representative
Have good organizational and time management skills
Have good verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work in a clinic environment that allows for whatever flexibility is needed to meet the immediate patient needs which will include providing care in the medical exam room
Ability to work under pressure, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients, and difficult situations.
BLS Health Care Provider Certification
Experience in Public Health and with multi-cultural populations preferred
