Structural Intern – East Lansing, MI

We are looking to speak with students regarding Structural Internship opportunities in our East Lansing, MI office for Summer 2021. We offer opportunities to work on a variety of transportation projects including state and local transportation agencies.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Intern may include:
  • Performing basic analysis of project elements
  • Performing load development and designing calculations of project elements and backchecking work
  • Preparing neat and organized structural calculations
  • Designing and drafting structural elements and details
  • Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
  • Performing tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned
  • Working independently under the guidance of a Senior Engineer
What You Will Need:
  • Current enrollment in a graduate-level Structural Engineering program or focus
  • Previous structural transportation (bridge design) experience desired
  • Successfully completed courses in prestressed concrete design, concrete design, steel design, and foundation design are desired.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as AASHTO, ACI, PCI, etc.
  • Knowledge of general-purpose structural analysis programs
  • Demonstrate competent use of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written - e-mails, project memos, reports, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
