Job Description:
JOB DUTIES -Lift Technician / Orderly will provide support to nursing staff in direct patient care areas with difficult patient transfers: bed to chair, bed to stretcher, repositioning in bed, and vice versa. Assists patient with significant mobility issues to include ambulation, toileting, positioning, and ingress and regress from automobile. Assist with Emergency transfers and patient falls and educating staff with use of lifts, safe transfer training, patient and staff safety nursing care (i.e., positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bedpan, urinal, or commode, ambulating the patient, pre and post-operative care, documentation in EMR) Follows Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures. Practice is based on the theoretical framework of nursing at Baptist Health Paducah including principles of Relationship-Based Care.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY -Completion of high school orG.E.D. required. Healthcare related experience required (i.e., nurse aide, EMT, nursing or healthcare related student). Good knowledge of body mechanics / physiology. Requires the ability to push/pull and frequently lift objects more than 75 pounds. Able to constantly walk and stand for prolonged periods, and remain in uncomfortable position for prolonged periods such as bending over. The Director conducts performance evaluations at the end of the three-month probationary period with input from the Supervisors. Evaluations are completed thereafter on a yearly basis.
