Job Description
Summary
Under general supervision, the carpenter performs a variety of tasks to include; erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. Building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters, wood stairways, window, and door frames.

  • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding
  • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials
  • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
  • Help erect, level, and install building framework

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Time Management skills
  • Strong teamworking skills
  • Able to work additional hours as needed per the job
  • Ability to travel to project work sites.
  • Knowledge of related tools, carpentry techniques, equipment and materials

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience in a construction industry is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred

This position has no supervisory responsibility.


Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position will primarily work at construction sites where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a construction environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and the outside environment. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by the job site location.
