Position Summary:

To select and manage quality suppliers, both overseas and domestically, to procure materials, components, supplies and services at most favorable costs and terms in line with Brewer’s purchasing goals of cost, quality, delivery, and service.

Essential Responsibilities: (other duties as assigned)
  • Manager foreign suppliers of purchased items, analyzing performance for continuity of supply, pricing, delivery, and quality satisfaction.
  • Source and develop new foreign or domestic suppliers as needed to improve cost/delivery/quality metrics.  Obtain business and financial references of prospective suppliers.
  • Visit supplier manufacturing or distribution facilities of domestic and foreign suppliers as needed to maintain awareness of current production capabilities, address quality/delivery concerns, or investigate new product or cost saving opportunities.
  • Keep informed of overseas issues:  import regulations, taxes, and political and economic situations in suppliers’ countries to ensure reliability of sourced product.
  • Secure with Engineering assistance, sources of supply on new and improved materials and components for new products and to effect cost savings.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to insure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing acquisition, carrying, and logistics costs.
  • Manage purchasing of parts and services for Production and Engineering.

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS Degree in Business, International Business, or related Supply Chain degree desired or equivalent work and industry experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • 3 years minimum of related industry/international sourcing experience required
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Demonstrable experience in creating comprehensive MRP reports and analyses
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills required
  • Project Management experience
  • Must be highly detail-orientated
  • Experience with ERP systems required
  • International and/or domestic travel up to 10% can be expected
  • Ability to read engineering blueprints or various relevant technical documents
  • Must have ability to fain technical understanding of assigned commodities
  • APICS Certificate Preferred
 
Physical / Mental Demands:
Office Work –
  • Sedentary work. Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Ability to travel as needed both domestically and internationally.
