Job Description
Job Title:
Electrical Controls Engineer

As a Controls Engineer, you will help develop proprietary software, design highly efficient systems, and be instrumental in developing new and patent-pending product lines. We encourage your ongoing training, and reimburse for your professional and technical development.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Strong knowledge of designing, building, implementing, debugging and troubleshooting factory floor automation
 
  1. Architect, write, and debug PLC ladder logic with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.
 
  1. Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
 
  1. Demonstrated excellence in programming PLCs. Must have a well-defined methodology for maintaining code structure and organization. Ability to program state machines for complex processes which involve multi-station parallel processing, pick and place automation, data acquisition, and PID control. Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery.
 
  1. Have a strong understanding of servo motion, including coordinated motion, motion profiles, camming, gearing etc.
     
  2. Strong electrical engineering experience including component specification, sizing, panel layout, servos, AC/DC drives, networks, etc...
 
  1. Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting
 
  1. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision
 
  1. Be a team player and work with fellow peers
 
  1.  Be able to complete the given tasks in accordance with the given timeline
 
  1.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
 
  1.  Be able to travel as required by project – 25% Travel
     

Preferred but not required:
 
  1. Food or pharmaceutical industry experience a plus
  2. A solid mechanical aptitude
  3. AutoCAD Electrical experience
  4. Knowledge of pneumatics
  5. Knowledge of hydraulics
  6. Knowledge of robotics
  7. Siemens PLC experience

Qualifications And Education Requirements:
  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  2. 7+ years of design experience
  3. Solid background in industrial controls
  4. Proficient with Allen Bradley’s family of controllers
  5. Proficient with Allen Bradley’s family of servo controllers
  6. Familiar with UL/CSA/CE standards
