The Residential Loan Specialist completes all necessary activities to process, prepare legal documents, and facilitate closings for conventional residential mortgage loans in compliance with secondary market guidelines. A Residential Loan Specialist is responsible for an average of 30 loan files during a regular 40-hour work week.

Opens loan files received from Loan Officers which includes ordering appraisals, credit reports, employment verification, surveys, and title commitments.

Monitors and completes a number and variety of documents to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant loan files.

Regularly communicates with loan originators, real estate agents, and borrowers throughout the underwriting process to keep them abreast of the loans’ status at all times.  

Provides quality service to customers, realtors, correspondents, loan officers, and all other Bank personnel.

Tracks loans in process to ensure file status and deadlines are strictly adhered to.

Reviews all closing documents prior to closing to ensure that they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with federal regulations and that they meet any requirements per FHLMA, FNMA, WHEDA, FHA, VA, private insurance, etc.

Assists closing agents and attorneys during a loan closing, in a courteous and professional manner; explaining documents, answering questions, and resolving any concerns as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Prior mortgage processing and documentation experience is required; loan closing experience is desired. Requires effective knowledge of mortgage documents and their contents. Prior knowledge of EZLender and Fiserv is helpful for this role. Requires effective knowledge of FHLMC, FNMA, WHEDA, FHA, Fed VA and DVA.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

This position is demanding in terms of deadlines and strict documentation requirements, which will require individuals with demonstrated ability in these areas and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.
