JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The Machine Operator B will work in various production departments with several different machines and is responsible for setting up machines and managing the line as product is run through. This position will also make the department lead aware of maintenance that is needed on the machines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production:

* Setup machines prior to the line starting by loading the proper size equipment and appropriate materials with no supervision

* Maintain the machine while the line is running with no supervision

* Troubleshoot machine and product issues. Let the department lead know if there is a machine issue

* When necessary, retrieve materials from the supply area

* Make sure other areas of the line are performing tasks correctly and keeping up with production

* Remove materials and labels at the end of the day

* Assist with daily metrics tracking including logging downtown and managing hour by hour boards

* Follow production memo specifications

* Know all positions on the line (operate, tie, hang)

* Complete paperwork with no supervision

* Know how to run 3-4 lines in department

* Train Machine Operator C on paperwork

* Other duties as assigned

FRESH and Packaging:

* Setup equipment

* Soak casings, break casings apart, put the casings on the spindling rod, give spindling rods to the individual stuffing

* Operate and monitor machines

* Communicate with lead and supervisor if there is an issue with the machine

* Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

High School Diploma; Ability to read and write

Experience and Training

Must have basic math skills including adding, multiplying, and dividing. LOTO trained. PIT Trained. 1-2 years' experience.

Characteristics

Desire and interest to learn the Machine Operator position and progress through the Machine Operator levels.
