Job Description

It's an exciting time to join Modine!!!  You may have heard Modine Buena Vista is expanding and growing in Buena Vista/Rockbridge County with the support of the Virginia Economic Development Program.

General Job Description
Receives order from Supervisor or Leadperson.  Using various manual and powered hand tools, assembles or modifies units with purchased or manufactured parts to meet customer specifications.  This could require adjustments to existing materials such as cutting, bending, and drilling, or removing existing parts and replacing with others.  Works from blueprints, wiring diagrams, etc., to modify and assemble unit.  Uses overhead hoist to lift units and large parts onto work station.  Transports completed unit to inspector on cart before crating.  Reports improper parts and quantities to Supervisor.  Inspects overhead hoist daily and reports improper equipment operation to Supervisor.

 
 

Experience or Training Required
Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, ability to operate overhead hoist, ability to work from blueprints, and following of instructions.  Must be able to successfully master all elements of training control document for this job.
Essential Job Functions (the fundamental job duties)
  1. Using various manual and powered hand tools to assemble units according to customer specifications on order form.
  2. Use overhead hoist.
  3. Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams to build or modify units.
  4. Transports finished unit to Quality personnel on cart before crating.
  5. Inspects overhead hoist daily and notifies Supervisor of improper equipment operation.
  6. Maintains appropriate parts quantities at work station and notifies Supervisor or Leadperson of insufficient quantities.
  7. Records time and production.
  8. Works eight-hour shift concurrently with other plant operations.  Periodic daily and weekend overtime as production schedules demand.
  9. May be assigned task of training new/transferred employees as required.
  10. Other essential functions as may be assigned.
  11. Assembly Technicians will use QAD to track inventory while performing the parts setting job. (Certain applications may not apply.)
Marginal Job Functions (not fundamental job duties)
  1. Assist Material Handler locate appropriate manufactured and purchased parts to be used for conversions.
  2. Keeps work area neat, clean, and orderly.
  3. Perform material handling as necessary.
  4. Operate powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks.
