Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer (20000052)

The Manufacturing Engineer / CNC programmer conducts specialized manufacturing engineering assignments to develop and create bills of materials and step by step manufacturing routings, all manufacturing specification documents, new tooling and machine methods, cost estimates, resolve engineering problems involved in manufacturing of standard or new tools and gauges, and manufacturing processes to meet OEM specification:

  • Prepare process routing sequence and CAD drawings with detailed work instructions for the manufacturing operations consisting from raw material, machining, gear cutting and precision grinding for single level components and multi-level assemblies
  • Create accurate Manufacturing Bills of Materials from Parts or Assemblies to drive manufacturing, operations, quality, purchasing and logistics for a product. The information from the MBOM feeds the business systems used to order parts and build the product.
  • Provide cost estimates and time standards for the manufacturing operations ensuring processes are up-to-date and in line with engineering and production requirements to meet customers' print specification
  • Provide and suggest, equipment, tooling and inspection methods required to ensure the robustness of the manufacturing process in regards to quality, reliability, and consistency.
  • Review and check customer prints for accuracy of product specifications, geometry dimensions and quality standards including verifying and discussing with customer as needed.
  • Troubleshoots, support and resolve development issues for new part introduction, and improve existing parts
  • Identifies, recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization in order to increase efficiency and cost savings.
  • Monitors new developments in the area of gear and coupling manufacturing.
  • Provides technical leadership/training and/or coaching to other team members.
  • Plans, designs, and develops CNC programs to meet the specifications of the CAD designs and customer blueprint specifications. May work with manufacturing and design engineers to ensure that timeliness as well as quality goals are met. Collaborates with production for problem solving and technical support.


Qualifications
  • Technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 5 years of experience in CNC Programming (Mastercam preferred)
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in processing of complex machine components
  • Experience in lean manufacturing / Lean Six Sigma
  • The candidate must have production experience preferably in high mix low volume machine shop and/or gear cutting/grinding operations, with a core base of skills to progress innovation and forward thinking in an aggressive environment where quality and customer requirements are paramount
