Job Description
Scheduler/Buyer (20000079)

The Scheduler/Buyer creates, plans and implements the detailed planning of manufacturing schedules and processing including managing day-to-day requirements for bar-stock, forgings, castings, assembly components, and subcontracting services ensuring the time production of company products and to avoid manufacturing delays.



Qualifications

* Analyze projected master schedule to determine production plan with consideration given to lead time required for material procurement, machining, finishing, and delivery time in accordance with shipping date and commitment

* Fulfill customer demand for large original equipment manufacturer (OEM) via work order creation establishing the proper economical order quantity for each order and inventory levels

* Analyze production specifications and plant capacity and constraints data, and perform analysis to determine manufacturing processes, routings, tools, and human resource requirements

* Determine jobs for outsourcing and monitor jobs that are subcontracted

* Monitoring daily workload for on-time start, shop floor status, and capacity planning, and completion while conferring with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress

* Determine production priorities and work with other functional groups to ensure each department has the information required to start and ship jobs on time (human resources, material, overtime, off shift, etc.)

* Create and release work orders related to shortages, rework, scrap, tooling, development and others

* Plan and schedule work flow for each department and operation according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times and taking into consideration any modifications to new or existing products

* Authorize the release of orders for production with proper packets and documentation

* Assist with clearing difficulties and delays and correction of procedural errors

* Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions

* Monitor inventory control and expedite and issue requisitions for materials and services required for production

* Confer with department supervisors and team leads to determine status of assigned jobs and projects. Schedules the manufacturing work centers to maximize company efficiency to ensure all products are shipped on time.

* Prepare production reports and keep the customer service and sales team informed on order status to facilitate answering customers' inquiries. Provide advance notification if commitment is in jeopardy

* Identify BOM, route and item discrepancies and facilitate necessary corrections with manufacturing engineers

* Monitor inventory transaction integrity and resolve problems. Perform inventory adjustments as necessary

* Review and implement all customer change notices (ECN)

* Confirm lead times and provide delivery acknowledgment to customer service team

* Source and purchase forgings, castings, and bar stock for production requirements

* Establish and maintain material programs to ensure timely delivery to meet production needs

* Look at alternatives to reduce material and inventory costs

* Maintains communication with suppliers and monitors the delivery of materials
