Job Description
Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQA) to support the corporate Supplier Quality Assurance Engineering group in Racine, WI.  The SQA reports to the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor in Racine, WI and will be assigned tasks to support department initiatives.  The SQA is responsible for the implementation and use of supplier management activities and procedures designed to improve supplier performance as defined by the Modine Global Supplier Manual and Modine Standard Practices.Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQA) to support the corporate Supplier Quality Assurance Engineering group in Racine, WI.  The SQA reports to the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor in Racine, WI and will be assigned tasks to support department initiatives.  The SQA is responsible for the implementation and use of supplier management activities and procedures designed to improve supplier performance as defined by the Modine Global Supplier Manual and Modine Standard Practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, and the manufacturing plants on resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Support and develop suppliers quality systems to improve performance.
  • When appropriate, work directly with suppliers to implement and verify effective corrective actions using the 8D process for non-conformance issues.
  • Support the approval of new suppliers to our Approved Supplier List (ASL) by performing a new supplier audit on site.
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities including feasibility reviews with suppliers.  Communicate Special Characteristics (SC), Pass Through Characteristics (PTC), and capability expectations to suppliers early in the product development process to ensure the suppliers ability to provide conforming product. 
  • When appropriate conduct Production Trial Runs (PTR) or AIAG PPAP reviews at the suppliers facility.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of strategic supplier quality related plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, publish, and implement supplier quality related requirements, specifications, standards, and work instructions.
  • Maintain and improve the supplier performance database and scorecards.
  • Initiate effective and efficient changes and improvements to the Modine Supplier Quality System.
  • When appropriate, conduct on site supplier quality assessments to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or VDA 6.3 requirements to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.
  • Identify and require corrective actions resulting from supplier on site quality assessments.  Follow up and verify that corrective actions have been implemented and are effective.
  • Be knowledgeable of customer specific requirements and provide support to product groups and manufacturing plants for customer Supplier Quality related activities.
  • Develop training (internal and external) focused towards the requirements of the Modine supplier quality system.
  • Identify and conduct (or coordinate as necessary) supplier quality related training for company personnel.
  • Perform internal audits as needed to support the Quality Department.
  • Keep abreast of changes and future directions in the Supplier Quality field.
Position Requirements:
  • College graduate (or master’s degree) in engineering or related technical discipline with 5 – 12 years engineering experience, or 10 – 20 years equivalent experience in Supplier Quality.
  • Lead assessor in ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, AS 9100, or VDA 6.3.
  • Experienced in establishing and implementing strategic plans for supplier quality policies, procedures and plans.
  • Experienced in facilitating supplier quality development and improvement.
  • Solid project management and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the following commodities:  Raw (bulk) material (aluminum, steel, copper), castings, machined components, injection molded plastics, electronics, formed or extruded tubing, stampings and fabricated weldments.  
  • Proficient in the use of the AIAG Tools:
    • Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and control plans
    • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Proficient in the use of problem solving tools and the 8D process.
  • Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects or supplier issues.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
Travel Requirements:
  • 40 – 65% travel domestic and international.
