Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced controls designer with a background in panel layout, creating schematics, mechanical drawings for panel cutouts, developing bills of material and component selection.
Requirements: A minimum of 6 years in panel design and component specification Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD electrical Able to specify motors, sensors other electrical components Be able to produce electrical schematic with standard electrical symbols Produce complete bills of material Understand UL 508, CE and CSA requirements as they apply to industrial control systems Be familiar with “best practices” with regards to voltage segregation and wire routing in panels and raceways. An understanding of automation components and how they are interconnected. This includes PLCs, servos, analog signals, digital signals, transformers, MCPs, relays, fusing etc. Be able to communicate well with team members and customers A degree in Electronics is desirable
Responsibilities: Work with mechanical engineers to help define each project from kickoff through completion. Design cabinet and panel layouts Develop electrical schematics with a modular systematic approach Create and maintain symbol libraries for standard electrical components Specify fusing, motor protection, sensors, relays, contactors etc. Produce mechanical drawings and design files used to produce CNC files for adding HMI and cable entries in control enclosures. Work with Engineering and Production to ensure designs are complete and all information for purchasing and production is documented. Work with programmers and field service technicians to refine design, troubleshoot systems in house and in the field.
