Job Summary

Our Engineering team at the Product Development Center has an opening for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Validation and Verification role. This open position requires a relentless drive to succeed while working in an efficient, dynamic and agile systems focused engineering environment. This engineer will be responsible for testing of critical on-vehicle electrical control modules. Testing includes defining the test case, understanding and operating Hardware in the Loop (HIL) systems, and defining pass or fail criteria. Technical skills related to performance on-bench and on-vehicle testing is required.

Job Responsibilities

This is what you'll do:

  • Work with component owners and design engineers to define, develop, and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) tests for H-D electronic control units (ECUs)
  • Develop and implement custom test functions and sequences using National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW, Veristand, and TestStand
  • Review requirements at the vehicle, system and component levels
  • Work extensively with CAN, analog and digital based control systems
  • Provide HiL support for advanced controls development and testing
  • Leverage test case input and output vectors from various other time-based sources
  • Develop automation of test case execution with reporting
  • Utilize third-party software tools to log and share data with other test labs within H-D
  • Be responsible for maintenance and upgrades of multiple NI-based HiL systems
  • Stay abreast of new HiL test technologies in order to continually improve and expand HiL test capability
Education Specifications
  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
Experience Requirements

We're looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Experience with National Instruments software and hardware (NI Alliance Partner systems integration experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with NI LabVIEW, Veristand, and TestStand (NI certifications CLD/CLED/CLA/CTD/CTA preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink modeling and simulation model development/integration
  • Familiarity with vehicle communications protocols (CAN, LIN, UDS, CCP)
  • Experience in software development process associated with automotive type embedded systems
