Job Description

At Brenntag Great Lakes, we are seeking for a Warehouse Employee. The warehouse employee is responsible for loading and unloading trailers, tanks, tankers, loading empty poly/steel/stainless steel containers, operating electronic scales, filling product into various sized containers, blending product, labeling containers, and palletizing product. Must be willing to work any shift and able to work any day of the week. This is a Teamsters Union (Local 200) position. Competitive wages and an excellent benefit package are provided. Shift would be Sunday - Thursday from 10pm - 6:30am.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to perform inspections on tanks, tanker, power units/spotter trucks, and rail cars involving climbing, stooping, and crouching.
  • Must be able to stand and walk several hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift and carry bags, boxes, pails, propane cylinders, and pallets weighing up to 85 pounds for varying distances.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver 55-gallon drums of product or waste weighing several hundred pounds when loading and unloading trailers several times per day.
  • Must be able to pull up and down the trailer doors, dock bay doors, lift gates, and dock plates requiring up to 70 pounds of force several times per day.
  • Must be able to climb over the different product containers in the trailer to balance and secure the load.
  • Must be able to clean up a hazardous waste or hazardous materials spill if an incident occurs in the yard, warehouse, or trailer. This may involve up righting a full 55-gallon drum weighing several hundred pounds.
  • Must be able to operate sit-down/stand up forklifts and walkie rider lift trucks.
  • Must be able to climb to the top of tanks and tankers to open the top hatch.
  • Warehouse employee must be able to push/pull the stand up forklift or walkie rider battery onto and off of the charging station.
  • Must be able to use different types of hand tools during the day.

Personal Protective Equipment

The warehouse employee is issued, and required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, ESD safety shoes (steel toes), full face respirator (employee’s face must be free of facial hair where the mask and facial skin meet to form a protective seal, facial hair must be maintained on a daily basis), PAPR (filling of corrosives/oxidizers), chemical protective gloves, hearing protection, and chemical protective clothing/Level B suit may be required depending on the job task/chemical transfer or clean-up task to be performed.
Qualifications

  • Must have high school education or GED
  • Must have good driving record
  • Must clear a security background check
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Must pass math skills test
  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Must be available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shift

Preferred

  • Forklift experience
  • CDL Class 1A with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
  • Chemical warehouse\blending experience
  • Computer literate
