In addition to the provider job description, the Clinical Director of Behavioral Health is accountable for and has the following duties and responsibilities:
Assist in the recruitment, screening and recommendation of behavioral health personnel for employment.
Participate in annual performance appraisals of the behavioral health providers and behavioral health support staff.
Responsible for the provision of on-call coverage and coordinates the schedules of behavioral health staff, as to special activities, vacations, and other leaves.
Assist MHSI Senior Leadership with the identification of the community's behavioral health needs and care gaps.
Oversees behavioral health chart audit, peer review and other clinical behavioral health care review processes in coordination with Quality Improvement Manager.
Responsible for the interpretation of the Interdisciplinary Continuous Quality Improvement Team's findings of care audits and formulating any corrective plans where deficiencies may be identified. Accountability for corrective plan results cannot be delegated.
Along with Specialty Clinic Manager, responsible for the investigation of all patient complaints/grievances and report findings to the Interdisciplinary Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
Responsible for coordinating ongoing plans of behavioral health in-service training and ensures that the behavioral health personnel are participating in continuing education activities.
Develop plans for provider's involvement in community service activities designed to enhance public awareness of health issues or increase awareness of the behavioral health services available through the centers.
Ensure behavioral health policies and protocols are consistent between center sites and in alignment with MHSI organizational policies and procedures.
Develop behavioral health consultative and referral linkage arrangements with local behavioral health providers, which reflect patient care needs and enhance capacity of behavioral health providers.
Ensure the behavioral health program is integrated with the primary care and specialty clinics within Milwaukee Health Services, Inc.
Assist in grant writing or program development along with required reporting for funding opportunities as requested by MHSI and/or in collaboration with community partners.
Assist in accurate and timely behavioral health department billing procedures, which includes coordination of upgrades and implementation of new insurance programs.
Attend meetings and participate in committees as assigned.
Perform other job-related duties, as may be assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Licensed treatment professional or licensed mental health practitioner as defined in DHS 35.
Individual who has completed a residency in psychiatry; a psychologist or a private practice school psychologist licensed under ch. 455, Stats., a marriage and family therapist licensed under s. 457.10 or 457.11, Stats., a professional counselor licensed under s. 457.12 or 457.13, Stats., an advanced practice social worker granted a certificate under s. 457.08 (2), Stats., an independent social worker licensed under s. 457.08 (3), Stats., or a clinical social worker licensed under s. 457.08 (4), Stats.; and includes any of these individuals practicing under a currently valid training or temporary license or certificate granted under applicable provisions of ch. 457, Stats.
Master's Degree
“Licensed treatment professional” does not include an individual whose license or certificate is suspended, revoked, or voluntarily surrendered, or whose license or certificate is limited or restricted, when practicing in areas prohibited by the limitation or restriction
Experience:
Two to five years of progressively responsible management experience and supervision of clinical staff supervision preferred. Previous experience should be from a clinic or private practice setting, as well as previous supervisory experience, a must.
Expertise:
Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy towards patients. Able to develop teaching and counseling sessions, as needed. Must be able to adapt to changing situations and circumstances. Must be willing and able to assume and delegate the needs of clinic patients, as a member of the health care team.
Language:
Comprehend and use basic language either written or spoken to communicate information and ideals.
