About this Job:

The Head of Data and Visualization will build andmanage industry-leading capabilities to fuel the digital transformation ofSeeds R&D. In this role, you will providevisionary leadership to create and drive a forward-looking data strategy thatenables data-driven decision making and prescriptive design of seeds productsthrough advanced analytics. We are looking for a leader with a passion anddepth in data operational efficiency and effective management of dataenvironments, and who will inspire data engineering teams to build solutionsthat enhance data quality. This leaderwill drive the strategic and active management of our data ecosystem ofanalytics, data lakes, warehouses and tool platforms.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Establish a comprehensive data strategy for Seeds R&D to enable a robust data-driven decision making platform
  • Power the R&D analytics engine by driving the development and automation of advanced data curation, integration, querying and visualization capabilities enabled through cloud-based systems
  • Enable prescriptive product design in partnership with analytics and data science leaders by delivering next-generation data and analytics capabilities
  • Develop and sustain a highly engaged team of data and visualization experts and foster the growth of scientific and leadership talent
  • Lead the development and utilization of global data standards for data generation, analytics, and data lifecycle management
  • Build effective partnerships with IT, analytics and data science leaders, crop subject matter experts, and external experts to continually translate data and visualization innovations into business value through enhanced analytics and decision making
  • As a member of the Analytics and Data Sciences Leadership Team, contribute to the development and implementation of Seeds R&D computational science strategies and initiatives
  • Promotea safe work environment and a strong safety culture



Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Master'sdegree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics or relatedfield
  • Technicalknowledge in data architecture, large scale database systems, cloud-based datamanagement, data standards, data security, networking, and automation of dataprocesses
  • Technicalknowledge in tools and technologies to support data management
  • Depthof knowledge in operationalizing data governance and providing measurable dataquality management
  • Technicalknowledge in visualization, including wireframe development, visualizationprototyping and UX design
  • Technicalknowledge in analytics, modelling, simulation and data science is preferable
  • Hands-onknowledge of analytics and data technologies such as: Tableau, QlikView, ThoughtSpot, Hadoop,Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch
  • Knowledgein current agile methodologies, including Scrum
  • Understandingof people leadership and development
  • Project and portfolio management knowledge in the context of a matrixed, cross-disciplinary organization
  • Understandingof current trends and issues in agriculture R&D

AdditionalKnowledge, Skills, Traits & Abilities:

  • 10 years hands-on experience effectively managing data platforms, data toolsand/or depth in data management technologies
  • 5 years of experience with enterprise scale data management systems in anindustrial or government setting
  • 5 years of people leadership experience
  • Demonstratedexperience in architecting and designing cross industry business solutionsusing industry-leading practices in technology, performance and scalability
  • Experiencebuilding robust data platforms that support both local and enterpriseapplications and solutions
  • Experienceand leadership in operational efficiency, quantitative performance metrics andprocess orientation
  • Experiencewith cloud-based data management and analytics systems and data virtualizationtechnologies
  • Experience with Teradata, Informatica, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy
  • Experience in advanced analytics including fluency in R and Python is preferable
  • Experience partnering with an IT organization to develop and support software applications
  • Experience creating a strong team environment across a large set of separate agile teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in change leadership
