Job Description

Krueger Bearings is growing and is looking for a mechanically inclined Manual Lathe Operator/ Utility for 1st shift - (7:00 am - 3:00 pm).

Our work is intricate with short-running jobs focusing on the manufacturing of Babbitt bearings as well as machined components with tight tolerances.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sets up, adjusts and operates lathes to perform regular prescribed lathe operations on standardized short run and repetitive work where tolerances and finish requirements are not difficult to maintain.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Plans operational sequences, spindle speeds, tooling, feed rates, and attachments prescribed for standard work. Varies or selects same to compensate for material variations, cutting conditions, short run or special work.
  • Mounts tools in tool holder, set spindle speeds, tool feed rates, stops as prescribed for turning, tapering, thread cutting, drilling, boring, reaming, etc.
  • Positions, aligns and secures work in chuck or fixture; sets up and adjusts center rests to support work when required.
  • Works from part drawings, specifications and job layouts.
  • Uses calipers, micrometers, indicators, to set up and check work.
  • Works under general supervision receiving; instructions and guidance on operating and tooling problems, difficulties, special applications and new work; work is subject to process and final inspection and check.
EXPERIENCE:
Mechanically inclined individual will do well in this role. Understands or can learn machining fundamentals, shop arithmetic, print reading.
Individual with a desire to learn and move up in the company to become a high-end machinist is preferred.
