About this Job:

The person hired into this position will be expected to provide technical expertise in general and systemic toxicology to support human health risk assessments and registrations of plant protection products. The ideal candidate will also have specific training and experience in neuroscience or neurotoxicology. The toxicologist works within multi-disciplinary science teams and will be responsible for the specification, design, and management of studies conducted at contract research organizations as well the provision of interpreted data and advice to projects. This person may also represent Human Safety on new active ingredient research, development, or product life cycle management projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide input to development of science plans through active participation on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Manage all aspects of studies placed at CROs, including study design and protocol generation, conduct, problem solving, interpretation, and reporting
  • Interpret data and provide sound technical advice and positions to inform timely project and business decisions
  • Prepare and present technical positions to key internal stakeholders
  • Seek out latest developments in toxicology and risk assessment, and in consultation with other technical experts, assesses potential impact and utility of these developments to Syngenta R&D projects

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in toxicology or related discipline with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience; applicants with BS or MS degrees and commensurate experience will be considered
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Training and expertise neurotoxicology would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience in making initial interpretations of complex data and translation of this to advice to project teams
  • Solid understanding of the purpose and conduct of toxicology studies in the context of risk assessment

  • Travel requirement <10%
