Job Description
Summary/Objective:
Responsible for day-to-day project related general accounting functions and oversight of project accounting, accounts receivable and account payable functions.

  • Audit monthly project reports for cost accounting accuracy
  • Review all Change Order Requests for complete execution.
  • Create Schedule of Values linked to Cost Codes
  • Prepare recommended monthly schedule of value billings
  • Lien waiver review
  • Review and approve cost detail on job related invoices
  • Create project cost code breakdown consistently across projects
  • Monitor project cash receipts
  • Monthly reports with cost updates done, current forecast and short narratives including:
    • Summary of what is happening on site
    • Job cost to date against budget
    • Cost changes 'of interest' relative to prior month
    • Comments on A/R status
  • Time and material billing (pulling costs, changes, labor rates, etc.)
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting & analysis.
  • Management of the general accounting functions – project accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Solid math skills with ability to calculate numbers, figures and amounts.  Ability to apply a variety of mathematical concepts.
  • A thorough understanding of accounts payable, account receivable and general ledger standard procedures.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products and other financial or business systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Required Education and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, preferred.  Or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • 5-7 years of general accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • 2-5 years of managing a department and teams.
  • Must be familiar with AIA contract documents, Affidavits and Lien Waivers.

 Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department. Management of 5-6 employees.
