Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager directs/coordinates the manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements and standards. Full accountability for ensuring safety, customer quality, cost and delivery are met. Develop an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible teams by building working relationships. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

 
  1. Establish and propagate a Lean Manufacturing culture and methodology.
  2. Own, and work to improve, the Schedule Attainment Metric. Actively contribute to the improvement the plants’ productivity and company’s On Time Delivery metrics.
  3. Demonstrate good judgement to balance competing priorities.
  4. Understand the end-to-end supply chain process flow to proactively identify capacity constraints and other obstacles for the smooth flow of materials and information and propose solutions.
  5. Passionate for delivering superior customer service to internal and internal customers and has the sense of urgency to resolve questions and issues as they arise.
  6. Provide leadership to continuously improve the company operations in an ISO driven system.
  7. Work with Sales, Estimating, Purchasing, and Production Control to execute the daily flow of work and to continuously improve quality, cost reduction, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  8. Establish and enforce a zero accident Safety culture.
  9. In consultation with others, make staffing level and employment decisions and ensure effective employee relations. Provide leadership through effective communication and individual coaching.
  10. Establish effective performance metrics, visual controls and progress reporting to provide base lines for continuous improvement efforts. Lead improvement efforts to achieve agreed upon goals. Prioritize production work and improvement projects to achieve maximum impact.
  11. Lead department(s) to develop, implement and improve processes, equipment and procedures to improve the manufacturing efficiencies and customer service levels.
  12. Develop and train employees to increase their productivity and value to the company.
  13. Manage compliance with all state and federal regulations. 
  14. Oversee projects that include product and process development.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

 
  1. Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of five years experience in a metal fabrication environment.
  3. Three to five years of Windows office experience/expertise. AutoCad is helpful.
  4. Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain
  5. Career with progressively more responsibility and management/coaching experience.
 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 
  • Familiarity with company products, especially hand railing components and systems.
  • Lean manufacturing familiarity and expertise
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers in a collaborative team-based environment.
