Job Description

Milliman is one of the leading experts in healthcare financing and delivery. We advise clients on a wide range of issues—from assessing the impact of healthcare reform on organizations or populations to streamlining operations while advancing the quality of patient care. Our consulting work is supported by a powerful toolkit of data analytics solutions and informed by the most trusted, comprehensive set of cost guidelines in the industry.

ROLE DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analysts (referred to as Professional Staff) perform data analysis using Excel, SAS, and proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, such as Medicare, Commercial / ACA, Medicaid, Long Term Care, Pharmacy, Provider, and more. Such consulting activities include Pricing, Reserving, Financial Projections, and Mergers and Acquisitions. Professional staff are also responsible for reviewing the work of others, assisting with research and product development, and progressing with actuarial exams.

Experienced Analysts who serve in a Project Manager (PM) role are responsible for doing some technical work while delegating the majority of that work to Professional Staff to help meet client needs. PMs are expected to teach and train Professional Staff who are working on the projects for which the PM is responsible. PMs typically work on five to seven projects simultaneously and are expected to add insight into the technical direction of a project, check the initial reasonableness of the solution and create client communications for review by Consultants. Client interaction generally includes data collection, project updates, and answering basic technical questions.

Within a project team, Consultants, Project Managers, and Professional Staff coordinate their efforts to deliver client reports and deliverables. Consultants are responsible for building relationships with clients, directing projects, and presenting results. Project Managers work directly with Professional Staff by reviewing work, answering questions, and developing client correspondence. Professional Staff are responsible for the majority of the technical work, which may include analyzing data, completing actuarial calculations, developing and utilizing actuarial models, and implementing software solutions.

NOTE: This Actuarial Analyst position is for non-credentialed actuarial candidates who are actively pursuing exams. Whether you are considered for a Professional Staff or Project Manager role is determined through the interview process and is commensurate with experience.
