Job Description

Summary

The apprentice learns precision machining and tool & die making through on-the-job hands one experience and related classroom instruction. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs supervised work in the following areas for a total of 6320 hours or according to specific program guidelines:

  • Perform milling, drilling, turning and threading on CNC machines

  • Assist with set ups and gathering of tools, under the direction of experienced machinist

  • Perform precision measurement and inspections

  • Demonstrate awareness of all G & M codes or conversational programming

  • Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, and manuals

  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements: 

  • Attend either MATC or WCTC for paid related instruction and satisfactorily complete the courses

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid academic math background including algebra and geometry


Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk.  The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
