Job Description

Dings Company, part of the Venturedyne family of companies, is looking for a CNC programmer/manufacturing technician.
This position:

  • plans and designs manufacturing processes for a production facility,
  • will analyze assembly, fabrication, machining, and other processes,
  • maximizes efficiency by optimizing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization,
  • determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications,
  • may conduct time and cost analysis of processes,
  • contribute to moderately complex aspects of projects,
  • provide technical support to engineers during the design of manufacturing processes for this production facility,
  • assists in the development of layouts or floor plans, conducts tests and troubleshoots equipment,
  • documents test procedures and results,
  • solves routine technical problems,
  • requires the ability to set up and program CNC turning and milling equipment,
  • requires the ability to write new programs and design the necessary fixtures and chuck jaws,
  • designs and implements assembly fixtures and custom tooling when required,
  • may assist or train less experienced employees,
  • this position reports to manufacturing manager;
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.  
Job duties include but are not limited to the following
  • Creates and edits CNC programs for both mills and lathes to optimism efficient operation. 
  • Creates or acquires tooling and fixturing for CNC equipment to include chuck jaws, base fixtures, and custom tooling.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Estimates production times, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Edit production routing to include process and quality steps, update production time as required.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Monitor tooling requirements in a small to medium sized machine shop setting.
  • Knowledge of Kanban, 5S, and creation of work instructions.
  • Must be able to perform supervisory duties when needed.
