The starting pay is $17.50 per hour, which includes an $1.20 CNA add-on for hours worked. A $0.45 night and $0.60 weekend differential are also available. A $2000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have any prior state service in the last five years and must stay with SWC for a minimum of one year to retain the bonus. Bonus will be split, $1000 at hire and $1000 after one year. This position is in pay schedule/range 06/12 and a 12 month probationary period is required.

We are looking to fill multiple Resident Care Technician-Advanced also known as CNA - Intensive Treatment Program positions at the Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) in Union Grove, WI.

State Benefits include 3.5 weeks of vacation, 9 paid holidays, an ample amount of sick leave, a top-rated health plan, an exceptional retirement plan and low-cost insurance options starting at $31/month for single plans and $78/month for family plans after two months of state service.

Working hours include a combination of shifts of AM (6:45 AM - 3:15 PM), PM (2:45-11:15 PM) and night (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) shifts. Weekends and holidays will be required. All applicants must be willing and available to cover all shifts and work overtime as needed. In addition to the hourly salary, employees who work night hours will receive a $0.45 add-on per hour and employees who work weekend hours will receive a $0.60 add-on per hour.

Position Summary:

The Resident Care Technician-Advanced Intensive Treatment Program (RCT-Adv-ITP) participates in, and is responsible for, providing active treatment, promoting independence and choice, and implementing the treatment programs defined by each individual program plan in accordance with Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) regulations.

The RCT-Adv-ITP is responsible to adhere to ICF/IID regulations pertaining to, but not limited to: resident protections, active treatment services, resident behavior programs, health care services, and dietary services. The position is responsible to display competency working with individuals in SWC's Intensive Treatment Program. The RCT-Adv- ITP is responsible for mentoring the RCT-Objective staff in providing ongoing Active Treatment when they are assigned to work in the ITP. The RCT-Adv ITP is responsible for providing direct care to individuals with increased or unusual behavior acuity. Special Notes:

Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

All appointees will be required to successfully complete the New Employee Orientation training program during the first 4-8 weeks of employment. Training period length is determined based on certification. This training period is full-time, Monday-Friday at SWC.

Employer-paid training will be provided to appointees who are not currently certified as Nursing Assistants. All appointees must obtain a valid CNA certification within the training period in order to maintain employment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid CNA Certification OR experience providing direct support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities with mental health or behavioral disorders.

  • Must be willing and available to attend the required training full-time, Monday-Friday during the first 4-8 weeks of employment

  • Must be willing and available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed including staying for the next shift or working additional shifts as assigned to maintain facility staffing requirements. (up to 15.5 hours total in one shift)

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

In addition to the minimum requirements, well-qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience following individualized plans of care for patients or residents.

  • Experience working cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, patients/residents, etc.
