Job Description
At Alliance ENT and Hearing Center, overall success is based on each team member’s ability to provide superior customer service to all of our patients and affiliated networks. The Audiologist is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders in children and adults by performing Vestibular and Electroacoustic testing and providing hearing aid consultations which include hearing aid and assistive device fittings and follow-up care.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Administer hearing tests or examinations to patient to collect information on type and degree of impairment, by conferring with referring physician and using specialized instruments and electronic equipment, to define patient hearing impairment and balance disorder.
  • Counsel and instruct patients in techniques to improve hearing impairment.
  • Evaluate hearing to determine diagnoses and courses of treatment.
  • Responsible for vestibular (VNG) and electroacoustic (ABR) testing.
  • Provide hearing aid consultations by recommending assistive devices according to patients’ needs or nature of impairments and inform patients and their families on manners of communicating with the individual diagnosed with a hearing impairment.
  • Fit and dispense assistive devices, such as hearing aids.
  • Provide newborn screening services.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Maintain patient records at all stages in EMR, including initial evaluation, follow-up care, and discharge.
  • Assist Physicians/Physician Assistants with referrals for special testing purposes.
  • Predetermine cerumen management.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Doctoral degree in Audiology (Au.D.)
  • WI State Audiology License (or ability to obtain WI licensure).
  • Posses Certification by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (CCC-A).
  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all patients and staff.
  • Possess general computer skills with experience in office programs.
  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner.
  • Possess strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity per the American Academy of Audiology Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to work with and safely handle all PHI and ePHI information per HIPAA regulations and requirements.
Audiologists are strongly encouraged to update their job knowledge by tracking trends in new techniques and approaches; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Salaried at 40 hours a week.
  • Light travel to satellite offices, vendor offices, and special events as needed and required.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, standing, walking, potentially for an extended period of time, and reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist as required.
