Job Description
Role Purpose:  Responsible for managing the performance of people and processes and facilitating all production and information flows within the defined area of responsibility. This role requires strong people leadership skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on continuous improvement and people development within the value stream.
3rd shift:  Sunday night - Thursday night, 10pm-6am

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop personal objectives that link to the company vision and goals
  • Ensure value stream productivity targets are met through hands-on support
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Facilitate all EI system element training for his or her team
  • Effectively communicate to team members and requests feedback
  • Lives the GKN Values at all times and ensures all team members fulfill promises to GKN
  • Daily focus on continuous improvement (waste elimination, problem solving, risk identification/elimination)
  • Ensure value stream inventory is accurate at all times and errors are properly addressed
  • Facilitates team meetings and EI team kaizen events
  • Works effectively with all departments
  • Good organizational skills are needed to maintain work area and set priorities according to daily/weekly/monthly production requirements.
  • Ability to complete a 5 Why analysis and identify root causes of problems
  • Demonstrates understanding of when to elevate value stream needs for additional support from other departments
  • Daily focus on ensuring that all team members are in a safe working environment
  • Demonstrates ability to explain all customer requirements and quality standards to team members
  • Trains technicians on the use of the RADAR and LPA systems
  • Willingness to pursue additional training as recommended by direct manager or human resources.
Qualifications required:  Requires progressive, related manufacturing leadership experience of 1-3 years to become familiar with part processes, production equipment, and meet quality and quantity standards.
 
Soft Skills and Other Competencies:
  • Train and instruct personnel on equipment operation, use of instruments and gages, print reading, SPC charts, POS’s, routine and job-specific procedures
  • Follow established HSE Procedures and Guidelines, ensuring that one’s actions do not place themselves, others or the environment at risk and will counsel others they see working otherwise.
  • Maintain identity and segregation of non-conforming material.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement activities by utilizing the GKN lean tools and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving HSE.
  • Accurately complete daily production reporting (BaaN)
  • Lead value stream daily start up meeting.
  • Attend Value Stream Improvement meetings.
  • Maintain Primary Visual Display (PVD) Boards.
  • Responsible for end of month and daily inventory counts
  • Operate, assist set up and maintain equipment necessary to meet production demands.
  • Champion HSE and Lean activities.
  • Maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions (RADARs).
  • Prepare reports as directed.
  • Participate and/or lead assignments.
  • Champion EI, Lean, and HSE activities.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as may be assigned.
