About the position / Who are we looking for

General Summary

The Trainee will follow the Operations Management Development program to gain an overall understanding of the industry, our business, and the Operations function. The main purpose of the development program is to prepare the Trainee for a leadership role in plant operations. The program is approximately 18-36 months. It is a learn-by-doing program, in which the Trainee encounters a series of critical on-the-job learning experiences in Operations and cross-functional departments.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Follows the Operations Management Development program:
    1. Rotation 1 - Operations Department Experience: The Trainee works in an entry-level professional role within the Operations team.
    2. Rotation 2 - Cross-Functional Experience & Operations Project(s): The Trainee shadows in multiple departments to gain a well-rounded view of the business and acts as a member/leader of a key Operations project(s).
    3. Rotation 3 - Operations Leadership & Global Assignment: The Trainee works in an Operations leadership role and completes a global assignment.
  2. Remains abreast of OMT Rotation Program requirements.
  3. Discusses career goals with management.
  4. Remains engaged in training plans and project assignments to gain the experience intended by the program.
  5. Reflects on and retains learning experiences.
  6. Presents learning experiences to management at the end of each rotation.
  7. Participates regularly in staff and other group meetings.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to read, write and speak English.
  2. Ability to work effectively in a team, displaying trust and rapport building skills.
  3. Ability to effectively and succinctly communicate in oral and written form to all levels (Operator to Executive) of the organization, as well as outside contractors.
  4. Time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines.
  5. High adaptability, with the ability to work independently and act as a self-starter.
  6. Competitive drive and determination to learn and achieve.
  7. Display of leadership abilities.
  8. Willingness to travel internationally.
  9. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs. SAP experience is a plus.
  10. Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles and their application is a plus.
  11. These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Business discipline.

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable. Working environment is a combination of office area and production unit. Work schedule, lighting, temperature, and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures. Frequent entry into the production facility requires personal protective equipment to be worn at all times. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
