The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is currently recruiting to fill multiple Limited Term Employment Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions.

SWC is a state operated Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. SWC provides a wide variety of programs and services designed to assist and prepare individuals to live successfully in the setting that best meets their needs. Please note:

These are flexible part time positions with the ability to pick up additional hours (with no required additional overtime). Employees will have the ability to select available needed days and shifts. Working hours may include a combination of rotating, AM, PM and Night shifts. Availability on weekends and a commitment to work at least 16 hours per week is preferred. Ability to work on short notice is a plus. In addition to the hourly salary, employees who work night hours will receive a $0.45 add-on per hour and employees who work weekend hours will receive a $0.60 add-on per hour.

  • LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position and do not lead to permanent status.

  • Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.

  • No more than 1039 hours may be worked in a 12 month period.

Position Summary:

CNAs at SWC provide care to individuals with intellectual disabilities; provide personal hygiene care to residents including bathing, grooming, and toileting. CNAs observe and report behavioral, mental, and physical changes in residents; record and summarize information in daily logs, clinical records, etc. CNAs assist seated or lying residents to a standing position by pulling and lifting; and work cooperatively with others to promote a positive living environment.

Special Notes:

  • Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

  • All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by Southern Wisconsin Center or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

  • This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs, carrying, bending, sitting, kneeling, and stooping. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

  • All appointees will be required to successfully complete New Employee Orientation training, which includes training in physical control techniques and therapeutic interventions with patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

  • Must be willing and available to attend the required training full-time, Monday-Friday during the first week of employment.

In addition to the minimum requirements above, well qualified applicants will have:

  • Ability to participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work independently and without close supervision.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
