Job Description
Job Location: Camp Double Eagle - Eagle, WI
Position Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $8.25 - $10.00 Hourly
Job Shift: Day

Under the direction of the Camp Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Summer Camp Counselor should be able to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence through teaching and supervising, be able to motivate and effectively communicate with members, parents and children, and exercise mature judgment and sound decision making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Have full availability: June 10-August 30, 2019; 7:00am-6:00pm; Monday-Friday
  2. Create and carry out summer camp lesson plans.
  3. Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing and genuine for all members and guests.
  4. Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, participants, and other staff.
  5. Clearly and effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff.
  6. Able to work with other staff as part of a team.
  7. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  8. Participation and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings and staff meetings is mandatory.
  9. Uphold the core values of the YMCA when dealing with people within the YMCA facilities and within the community.
  10. Work scheduled shifts. Arrangements for substitutes must be previously approved by the Camp Director.
Experience & Skills

Individuals considered for this job must have a willingness to provide a fun and safe environment with a positive and outgoing attitude for camp programs. Individuals in this job must be at least 18 years of age, completed or working towards a Recreation or Education Degree preferred, and have the following abilities: exercise mature judgment and sound decision making; relate to people in a positive, but firm manner; observant; safety conscious; react calmly and quickly in an emergency; effectively communicate information on YMCA programs to members and participants; lift a minimum of 50 pounds and have full range of body movement.
