Primary Responsibilities

HDR Architecture, Inc. currently has an opening for a Structural Engineering Intern in our Arlington, VA office.

The right candidate will have completed at least their second year in a Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering program. Candidate must be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as with a project team to complete of a task. This position will require application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Our internship programs offer real-world experience on exciting projects. Mentoring programs and young professionals programs give you a chance to connect with both recent college graduates and our company leaders.
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or a project manager.
  • Perform routine drafting/modeling assignments utilizing standardized modeling and drawing techniques,
  • Perform analysis and design assignments using structural engineering techniques and procedures,
*This is a full-time position for summer 2019.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a graduate Civil Engineering program, Structural Engineering program, or Architectural Engineering program with a focus on Civil/Structural.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering software like RAM Structural System, SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
  • Familiarity with Revit.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years coursework preferred.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 preferred.
  • Preferred candidate to have held previous intern or volunteer positions for companies within the engineering and/or building industries
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
