Job Description
The Equitable Bank is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our Mortgage Lending Department. 

Our Mortgage professional's primary responsibility is making sales, by way of increasing and generating mortgage loans, while customarily and regularly engaged away from the Corporate Office or Bank Branch.

Specific Job Functions:
  • Source new business through referral sources and previous customers.
  • Pre-approve and approve loans within specified limits.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
  • Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review and update credit and loan files.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Compute payment schedules.
  • Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers' needs.
  • Submit applications to credit analysts for verification and recommendation.
  • Work with clients to identify their financial goals and to find ways of reaching those goals.
  • Confer with underwriters to aid in resolving mortgage application problems.
  • Inform individuals and firms of bank products, guide and advise bank services that may meet customers' needs.
  • Analyze potential loan markets and develop referral networks in order to locate prospects for loans.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies & procedures and loan products.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with branch staff.
Position Requirements:
  • Must be registered with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
  • Extensive knowledge of financial institutions policies and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations of this institution.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to design and implement corrective solutions.
  • Proficiency in application of auditing theory, standards, procedures and techniques.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with all levels of management.
  • Extensive ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations, trade publications and legal documents, and foresee relevant trends.
  • At least 2 or more years of related experience is required.
  • It is required that a majority of time must be customarily and regularly engaged away from the office to meet with customers, cultivate business contacts and attend trade shows and networking events.
  • Familiarity with lending practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with DU, LP, and all Microsoft software applications preferred.
