Position Summary:
The Medical Billing Assistant reports to the Operations Manager.  Employees in this position are responsible for engaging in working relationships with follow up reps in order to be able to work aging and electronic reports daily plus numerous other reports effectively and efficiently.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the timely submission of additional data for payments, reviewing aging reports, keeping an acceptable range of day outstanding and client/patient relations.  If you are currently or have previously worked for an insurance company, or as a Medical Assistant or Scheduler, this position could be a great fit for you!
 
Essential Functions:
 
  • Analyze, appeal, and /or follow up on accounts receivable aging reports, mainly focusing on charges 0-119 days old
  • Provide above average customer service to clients, patients, and third party payers
  • Calling insurance companies to inquire on claim status, appeal or for problem resolution
  • Entering initial, subsequent and follow-up tracking notes into system
  • Rebilling accounts
  • Problem resolution, account correction and filing appeals
  • Review and maintain daily/monthly reports for claim errors and potential problems
  • Review zero pays; including problem resolution, account correction
  • Update information on patient accounts received from any and all sources
  • Contact third party payers regarding the status of claims
  • Pull and attach EOB’s as necessary to obtain payment on claims
  • Run standard and otherwise approved special requests for clients
  • Maintain client and patient confidentiality at all times
  • Keep abreast of industry changes
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
 
  • High school graduate or GED Equivalent
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT Codes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills; detailed oriented
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Ability to work closely in a team environment
