Job Description
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Development Marketing Specialist to join our Development and Marketing departments. This position provides leadership in developing and implementing strategic communications, campaigns, and marketing materials to support university development and alumni relations goals while enhancing the MSOE brand. The Development Marketing Specialist works collaboratively with key university stakeholders to develop innovative and effective marketing strategies that portray a clear, strong and unified image of the university to internal and external audiences and work collaboratively with key university stakeholders to develop creative, results-oriented marketing plans to support MSOE’s strategic priorities, build the institutional brand and drive alumni and donor engagement and fund-raising growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under the leadership of the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement and Vice President of Development and Alumni Affairs, serves the lead role in creating, planning and executing development communications to support the university’s development targets and engage key constituent groups (including alumni, parents and families, donors, and corporate partners). Serves as liaison to marketing communications team, working in close partnership with Development and Alumni Affairs team to manage follow up activities, communications and results.
  • Proactively manage an annual calendar of development and alumni relations communications including marketing collateral, development and alumni web content, social media and communications. Serve as an expert, detail-oriented project manager who collaborates effectively with key stakeholders across campus to develop high quality, engaging and results-oriented communications.
  • As a member of the MSOE Marketing Communications team, works to deliver a strong, consistent and cohesive brand identity and voice across all communications. Support the Marketing Communications strategy with the development of high quality content to support development including print, web, digital signage, event-related communications, social media and other emerging platforms.
  • Develop and deploy development-focused marketing campaigns and communication sequences to positively position and promote the university and its mission to key constituent groups. Prepare periodic reports for Vice President of Development and Alumni Affairs to measure campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Manage annual calendar of development and alumni relations communications. Model MSOE’s strategic commitment to being extraordinary through continuous improvement and by conducting ongoing assessments of communications to adapt and improve their effectiveness.
  • Monitor higher education development and alumni relations marketing trends, tools and opportunities, and apply them to MSOE, when appropriate, to further enhance the University’s marketing communications presence.
  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related area of study.
  • A minimum of three years of professional communications experience is required. Higher education, development/fundraising and/or nonprofit experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to articulate technical information to a non-technical population.  Requires the ability to communicate and respond to both internal and external customers professionally and in a timely manner.  Must have the ability to read, interpret, write, create and complete documents such as reports, newsletters, general correspondence, and training materials or guidelines.\
  • Requires attention to detail, strong organizational competence and the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.  Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and professionally respond to variations in schedules and plans. Must be self-directed with strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and meet challenges with resourcefulness.
