Job Description

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to join the Mathematics Department as early as winter quarter of this 2018-19 academic year. MSOE has a new and growing program in Actuarial Science. The program is approved by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) to be on their list of Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs in all three VEE (Validation of Educational Experience) areas: VEE Applied Statistics, VEE Corporate Finance and VEE Economics.

At the time of hiring, candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in Mathematics, with expertise in statistics or related fields such as probability and stochastic processes. A doctoral or MS degree in Statistics is preferable.
The faculty is expected to teach statistics courses in Time Series, Regression and Forecasting, and Multivariate Statistics, as well as all undergraduate courses offered by the department. ABDs (All But Dissertation) nearing completion of the Ph.D. are considered with the initial appointment to be made at the rank of instructor. Applications from senior and qualified candidates can be considered for a higher rank.

MSOE offers degrees in actuarial science, business, construction management, engineering, nursing and technical communications. We are located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee and are recognized in several national publications for our “applications – oriented” approach. Faculty is judged primarily on excellence in teaching. MSOE graduates are in high demand, as evidenced by our strong job placement rate.

To apply, please upload a single PDF file which includes a cover letter, a detailed resume and evidence of teaching excellence. Candidates are to apply by visiting www.msoe.edu/hr or on MilwaukeeJobs.com by selecting "Apply Now".  Only candidates who apply through the MSOE or MilwaukeeJobs websites will be considered.

Also, arrange for three letters of recommendation to be independently sent to the department chair Dr. M. Kaltchev at kaltchev@msoe.edu. At least one letter should address teaching. The review of candidates will begin on October 1st, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
