Job Description

General Job Description

Receives finished unit heaters via conveyor belt and performs final inspection on each unit prior to cartoning to ensure conformance to company and agency standards.  Inspection includes lifting unit overhead via hoist and connecting fuel sources and electricity to units in order to fire unit.  Performs flame test on burner, manifold, valves, etc.  Visually checks workmanship and appearance of units and verifies product safety features are in tact and operable using standard test equipment.  May check piece parts per blueprints and wiring diagrams.  Rejects units not conforming to specifications or quality standards, removes defective units from conveyor line and initiates corrective action necessary, which includes repairing defects at line when possible.  Records inspection data per agency and company specifications.  Reports the results (verbally and written) to Production Supervisor and quality manager.  Uses powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks.  Records time and production and performs other duties as required.

Experience or Training Required

Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, ability to operate powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks, and following of instructions.  Must be able to successfully master all elements of training control document for this job.

  10. Reports improper equipment operation and defective materials to Supervisor.
  11. Records time and production.
  12. Works eight-hour shift concurrently with other plant operations.  Periodic daily and weekend overtime as production schedules demand.
  13. May be assigned task of training new/transferred employees as required.
  14. Other essential functions as may be assigned.
