Job Description

Position Summary

Provides direct clinical treatment services to patients and their families on an outpatient and inpatient basis, insuring that patients receive the treatment necessary to treat their diagnosis or disorder. Works constructively and collaboratively with other health professionals. Focuses on attaining high standards of health care in their area of clinical expertise . Duties may include instructing, monitoring, and advising junior medical officers or other health care professionals as appropriate.

Experience

Competent in delivery of healthcare services for adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. Age specific competency is measured by a variety of methods, which may include, but not be limited to, self-learning packets, review of age specific guidelines, direct observation, video, simulation, unit-based class, policies and procedures, or chart review.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Must be licensed for Physician and Surgeon in the state. Must also maintain an Controlled Substance license for the state and Federal DEA when applicable to their specialty. Must have successfully completed, or in the process of completing, an accredited residency program. Must maintain active medical colleague's privileges and medical colleague's membership. Must be board certification or board eligible. Licensed in the state of practice.

HSHS Medical Group is currently recruiting a BC/BE Gastroenterologist to join a newly established Gastroenterology practice in , Belleville, Illinois due to growing patient volumes and expansion of GI service line. The practice is located on the campus of St. Elizabeth's Hospital with access to x-ray, lab, CT, and MRI just a few steps away! St. Elizabeth's Hospital has three endoscopy suites with the latest technology and provides superior diagnostic and interventional treatments for a wide variety of digestive diseases and gastrointestinal disorders. The ideal candidate will have fellowship training in Gastroenterology with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong leadership skills.
In 2013, St. Elizabeth's was named one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals. This full-service acute care hospital and rehabilitation center is less than 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis with an average daily inpatient census of 150 patients. In cooperation with nearby St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Elizabeth's provides a training site for medical residents. In 2017, St. Elizabeth's Hospital will be opening a new replacement hospital, off of Green Mount Road in O'Fallon, Illinois. This will allow easier interstate access for patients from surrounding communities.
