Job Description

Currently seeking a 2ND SHIFT (2pm-10:30pm) – Blaster/De-coat Operator and Tool Prepper for our Brookfield, WI headquarters. Under the direction of the Coating Division Manager and Coating Lead, set-up and operate wet polishing machines, perform de-coat operations on customer tooling orders, prepare internal and external orders for the coating process by inspecting, racking, tagging and cleaning tools using automated and manual processes. As part of their primary responsibilities, this individual will also ensure final coated product is inspected for quality, re-packaged and routed to next operations.

Responsibilities of the Tool Prep Operator include but are not limited to:
Visually inspects product for unacceptable coating conditions or defects prior to pre-polishing or post-polishing.
Loads product into wet polishing and/or de-coating fixtures following production routing.
Responsible for correct condition of blasting and de-coating systems, setting of parameters.
Correctly carries out the wet blasting/polishing and de-coating processes according to the router and documentation.
Maintain safe working conditions and cleanliness of work areas at all times.
Interact with internal and external customers in a 'customer-friendly' manner.
Receive and inspect product for processing, verify product order number, process sequence, specifications, special instructions, and quantity.
Inspect product for unacceptable coating conditions; route product for appropriate operation.
Follow appropriate procedures for tooling to complete the automated cleaning process.
Perform manual cleaning using chemical and mechanical methods.
Responsible for performing daily process control on equipment.
Break down loads by matching paperwork, before forwarding to next operation.
Inspect finished product.; verify product is acceptable to move to next operation.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of workstation and equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions such as S.O.P.'s, work instructions, technical documents, and manufacturing prints.
Ability to perform written communication
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to use basic hand tools.
Previous experience with basic machine operation, metallurgy, coating processes, vacuum technology is desirable. Knowledge of industrial cutting tools (e.g. drills, end mills, dies, etc.) preferred, but not required.
Individual must have strong work ethic, be high-energy, and detail-oriented.
