Job Description
United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County has a unique position opening as Account Manager – Donor Networks.
 
United Way is a recognized national brand and is the largest funder of health and human services outside of the federal government. Funds raised through United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County remain local and are invested in nearly 220-plus programs at over 110 local nonprofit program partners.


POSITION OVERVIEW

Develop and implement effective individual giving strategies to increase contributions from individuals in our community, specifically young leaders.  Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with individual donors and volunteers, ensuring quality follow through and overall satisfaction.

 

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Enact individual giving strategy and support Donor Network team goals.
  • Identify and develop plans for engaging corporate prospects within assigned Donor Networks.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with individual donors and volunteers.
  • Identify prospects for and manage recruitment of council and committee members.
  • Establish program timelines, set fundraising and event goals annually, provide accurate goal and projected results.
  • Ensure that account data is collected and input into ANDAR.
  • Identify concerns and opportunities and direct corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Develop and review prospect lists with volunteers and make assignments based on information gathered.
Emerging Leaders Program Management
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to increase contributions from donors in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s who self-identify as Emerging Leaders.
  • Council Management
    • Manage relationships with, and provide excellent customer service to approximately 35 council members, who include many top community leaders and high-level donors.
    • Work with Council co-chairs to establish the direction of the Emerging Leaders Council and subcommittees.
    • Organize monthly co-chair meetings, quarterly council and subcommittee meetings, and event meetings as necessary for Emerging Leaders.
  • Event Management
    • Manage the Emerging Leaders Philanthropic 5 Awards program from collection of nominees, selection of Award winners and organization of Awards recognition evening.
    • Manage semi-annual Leadership panel discussions including managing discussion content, and panelist coordination.
    • May require night and weekend work time in support of program events.
    • Manage all other Emerging Leader Events.
  • Secure and manage all Emerging Leader events and manage program sponsorships in excess of $40,000 annually.
  • Work with Emerging Leader Board representative to prepare quarterly board updates.
  • Manage Emerging Leaders information to be included in United Way newsletters, all communications sent to United Way Emerging Leaders year-round and social media outlets.
 LEAD IMPACT NETWORK CHANGE (LINC) PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to increase contributions from individuals aged 22 to 30 years who self-identify as LINC Members.
  • Committee Management
    • Manage relationships with, and provide excellent customer service to approximately 20 leadership committee members.
    • Work with division co-chairs to establish the direction of the LINC Committee and subcommittees.
    • Organize monthly co-chair meetings, and quarterly large committee, subcommittee meetings, and event meetings as necessary for LINC.
  • Event Management
    • Plan and execute four social volunteer opportunities throughout the year as outlined by the LINC Compact.
    • Secure additional event sponsorships as needed.
    • May require night and weekend work time in support of program events.
    • Coordinate company hosted LINC events as needed.
  • Secure and manage all LINC events and manage program sponsorships in excess of $15,000 annually.
  • Manage LINC information to be included in United Way newsletters, communications sent to LINC members year-round and social media outlets.
  • LINC National Compact
    • Coordinate and engage with LINC administrators in other cities to be sure that messaging and look of LINC is cohesive and all LINC users have the same experience.
    • Participate in bi-weekly LINC Compact Calls.
    • Attend LINC Compact in-person meetings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job may have supervisory responsibilities of seasonal employees.


KEY REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree related to marketing, sales, business, or philanthropy and a minimum of three to five (3-5) years related experience, or equivalent experience directly related to fundraising. Understanding of marketing, sales, and customer service roles.
  • Computer experience and competence with Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, or other similar programs.
  • Experience with generational engagement.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well on all levels. 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational details.
 LANGUAGE SKILLS 
  • Read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. 
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, other employees, and the general public. 
  • Communicate and work effectively with volunteers and others in the community representing a broad range of interests and backgrounds.
  • Respond to common and complex inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills. 
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Compute rate, ratio and percent. 
  • Analyze data and utilize computer reports using the above computer programs.
OTHER SKILLS 
  • Work in a complex environment using technical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong analytical abilities, also demonstrating the ability to anticipate problems and identify and implement solutions when needed.
  • Work independently, recognize tasks, implement and follow through to completion.  Problem solve and work with flexibility. 
  • Prioritize and work on more than one project at a time.
  • Excellent understanding of group dynamics and excellent group facilitation skills.
REASONING ABILITY  
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to keyboard.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
