In partnership with donors and community leaders, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for meeting the strategic philanthropic priorities of MCW and the Froedtert Hospital Foundation. Together, MCW and Froedtert Hospital are engaged in philanthropic initiatives addressing our most urgent priorities: Accelerating Research and Advancing Patient Care, Driving Health and Vitality with Our Community, Transforming Healthcare Education, and Leading the Way in Surgery and Cardiovascular Research and Care. As a member of one of the leading development teams in the state, you can have an impact on our vision to redefine health beyond healthcare and help us transform the health of our patients, families, and broader communities. More than 1,400 students are enrolled in MCW's medical school and graduate school programs in Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Central Wisconsin. MCW's School of Pharmacy opened in 2017. A major national research center, MCW is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin. In FY2020, faculty received more than $300 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Annually, MCW faculty direct or collaborate on more than 2,800 research studies, including clinical trials. Additionally, more than 1,600 physicians provide care in virtually every specialty of medicine for more than 500,000 patients annually. Froedtert Hospital, the primary adult teaching affiliate for the Medical College of Wisconsin, is a 689-bed academic medical center that delivers advanced medical care. Froedtert Hospital is nationally recognized for exceptional physicians and nurses, research leadership, specialty expertise and state-of-the-art treatments and technology. Froedtert serves as Eastern Wisconsin's referral center for advanced medical practice care 37 specialties and is a major training facility with more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students in training. In partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert is also a respected research facility with annually more than 2,000 research studies, including clinical trials. Froedtert Hospital operates the region's only adult Level 1 Trauma Center. The mission of the MCW Cancer Center is to reduce the cancer burden through outreach, education and research into the causes, prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer. We do this by integrating basic science, translational and clinical research, patient care and professional and community education, with an emphasis on engaging underserved populations. Our network of cancer experts, scientists, clinicians, research programs and shared resources connects the collective cancer effort at the Medical College of Wisconsin and throughout the region. This essential hub provides leadership, knowledge, support and resources to hundreds of cancer investigators and clinicians. We provide a complete, centralized, single-minded focus on cancer research, from the bench to the bedside to the community. As the only center of its type in our region, we provide patients with multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art treatment, research-driven care and early phase clinical trials, right here in eastern Wisconsin.
