In-Home Support Staff for Young Adults with Autism

Job Summary 
Support Staff work closely as a team to provide home, work, and community based services. This could include helping with laundry, leisure activities, participating in exercise classes that help to maintain their physical health and hygiene, ensuring proper medications are distributed and many other tasks that will help them live successfully in their community. Our goal is to foster the independence of these young adults in their own apartments. They are learning to become more self-reliant and we are here to give them the support that they need, while continuing to further their endeavor for independence. We are looking for employees who are a positive influence and are dedicated and driven to make a difference in the lives of these three adults. 

Job Requirements 
  • Ready access to a car (with proof of insurance) for any shifts scheduled 
  • Ability to check and respond to work related texts/emails on a daily basis 
  • Ready access to a phone during any scheduled shifts 
  • Must be able to work at least one shift during the weekend and at least 2 evening shifts 
  • Minimum availability for one overnight respite shift per month 
  • Competency with basic technology skills: computers, smart phones, email
  • Minimum physical abilities to walk moderate distances, swim, lift up to 40 lbs
  • High school diploma or equivalent 

Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Assist/Monitor/Teach individuals with daily activities including personal hygiene
  • Assist/Monitor/Teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal prep (including special diets) 
  • Preform daily record keeping (data collection/daily logs) Exchange information with next staff
  • Assist with community integration and recreational activities 
  • Follow individual treatment plans consistently 
  • Attend training as scheduled 
  • Provide Transportation as needed between various activities including work, home, school, recreation 
  • Preform other duties as assigned
