Job Description
Telsmith, Inc. a worldwide leader, ISO certified, high quality manufacturer of crushing equipment for the quarry and mining industries has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and qualified 3rd Shift Material Blaster.
A Material Blaster at Telsmith is responsible for operating the equipment and performing the operations necessary to remove rust, scale, weld slag, oils or grease, etc from raw steel, sub-assemblies, or weldments to prepare them for subsequent manufacturing operations. Blasting is done in a closed booth, with air supplied respiratory equipment for the operator, who must meet the physical requirements for respirator use. Blaster is responsible for proper operation and routine maintenance of the blast booth, the blasting equipment, and the air supplied protective helmet.
Telsmith parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies and complete machines and systems are large and heavy and will require the Blaster to rig cranes with heavy chain slings, operate forklift trucks including adjusting forks, and do other material handling as necessary to move product into proper position for blasting. Physical requirements are typical of a heavy industrial environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, push and pull objects that weigh several hundred lbs on rolling carts, bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and occasionally work in awkward positions.
